Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock you’ve seen the rise of online video. Sites like YouTube are among the most trafficked sites on the internet and it’s not just young people that are search for and watching videos on YouTube.

The Online Publishers Association (OPA) has just released a study that says video viewing online has reached the point where it is “a routine practice” for many internet users.

According to the study, 24 percent of internet users access video at least once a week, while 46 percent watch video at least once a month.

Since Google purchased YouTube it has become all that much more important as a marketing medium because Google has started embedding videos into it’s regular search results as part of their Universal Search initiative.

Video is also a very rich medium for marketing and as a result should be part of any companies marketing plan.
